Presented by Deborah Davidson, PhD, is a professor at York University and a sociologist with research and writing interests in tattoos and commemoration which include her book, The Tattoo Project: Commemorative Tattoos, Visual Culture, and the Digital Archive.

Tattoos tell stories - our stories as humans connected to others, to events, and experiences. In this presentation, Deborah will briefly introduce her story and her interest in tattoos, describe a brief cultural history of tattooing, and illustrate with examples of tattoos and their bearers’ stories shared from her research. Please bring your stories to share!

Presenter Bio

Deborah Davidson, PhD, is a professor at York University and a sociologist with research and writing interests in tattoos and commemoration which include her book, The Tattoo Project: Commemorative Tattoos, Visual Culture, and the Digital Archive. She has contributed to various media sources, podcasts, and has presented to a variety of audiences, including to the Lennox and Addington County Museum & Archives, and the Royal Ontario Museum.
